The crossroads..... Amanda

The book im reading is crossroads and i liked this book because it was really good!!...This book was about a kid named Zack, his mother had cancer and she died. Later then his dad got a girlfriend and then they got married. They live in New York in a big apartment but after the wedding they moved to Connecticut. When they moved they moved to a place that looked haunted. Then later in the book there heard a story about that there was an accident. The accident was on a bus that crashed. Forty people died and only two survived. The driver and an old lady. A couple years later the bus driver got in a car accident and when the accident happened his car hit a tree.His spirit stayed by the tree. Then there was a huge storm and lightning hit the tree and the spirit got out. Then he went looking for the people who caused him his life. well thats some about the book crossroads.

The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod Eighth Grade Bites

The Story that i read is called The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod Eighth Grade Bites. The story is about a 13 year old boy in 8th grade named Vladimir Tod. Vlad is half a vampire and he lives with his aunt Nelly. Nelly is not really his aunt but she was very close with Vladimirs mother. But ever since his mother and father died Nelly took care of Vladimir. Vladimir is half vampire because his dad was a vampire and his mom was a human. Vlads parents died in a fire. Vladimir thinks someone caused it. And Vladimir is trying to find out who killed his parents in the fire. That is all i am going to tell you if you want to know the rest then yuh have to read it. :)

The Book Hoot

At the end of the book roy finds out the name of the running boy. He becomes friends with beatrice and the running boy. Also they save the owls that is how it ends.

i read the book guys write for guys read. i only pulled one story from the book because it is filled with short stories that relate to boys. if your a boy you will most likely find a story that relates to you in some way. i choose this story because its interesting. what makes it interesting is that he saw something on TV that inspired him so much that he follo0wed it and read about it so he ended becoming a writer.

Murder At Midnight

So far I am reading "Murder At Midnight" by AVI. In the beginning it was really boring as it got to the middle it started to get interesting. That's all!

My book was Zoobreak. It was about a girl that lost her monkey and in the middle of the story they found that the monkey was not lost. They found out that the monkey was stolen. So a kid named Griffin made a plan to break into the zoo to get back the monkey. But that wasn't the only problem also his best friend was leaving to an academy. So when they broke in the zoo instead of taking just the monkey they took all the animals in that zoo. Because that zoo was the worst zoo ever they didn't take care of the animals that's why they had to. So 6 kids took them. The 6 kids were Savanna, Griffin, Malissa, Logan, Ben, and Pich. So each kid took a few animals to their house to keep them safe but the parents were not suppose to find out. But they were too much to handle so then Griffin made another plan to break into a different zoo and put the animals they took from the other zoo so they can be more safe. But they got caught trying to put them there. At the end the animals they toke had a home found for them. And the friend Ben was going to stay after all. Marco

the outsiders

I picked a book called the outsiders its about this group of guys called the greasers and anther group of guys called the soc. The soc are rich guys that are always looking to fight with the greasers. The greasers are guy that aren't rich and they have long greasy hair and people think that they are the ones that looking to fight. There's this boy called Ponyboy his a greaser that lives with his two older bothers because there mom and dad died. One Ponyboy gets mad at his bother and goes by Johnny and it's dark so go walk at the park and then the Soc's come looking for trouble. One of the Socs is drowning Ponyboy so Johnny killed the soc so Ponyboy and johnny went to hide in this one old church on Jay Mt. One they leave to get food and when come back the church is on fire.There is five little kid in the church and Dallas, Ponyboy, and Johnny go and save the kids but Johnny get hit by a burning bored on his back that breaks is back and has series burns. They have this one thing that's is called a rumble were the Soc's and the greasers fight.

The River

I have recently read the river which is the sequel to the Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. This book is about Brian, the main character, Is asked to be in the wild while one of the guys named Derek, takes notes about what he does. Later on Derek get in a coma and Brian builds a raft. Overall i think the book is good and interesting.

The Pit and the Pendulum

I like this book because it is a historical fiction. We are reading scary story's in class. this book is about the Spanish Inquisition that a man was not practicing his religion so they punish him they put a pendulum more it moves the lower the blade goes to his neck.and rats are is biting him so he got his left overs an smothered on the rope an the rat bit the rope and he was free and then the french army came so he was safe.

The Monkeys Paw

this soldier has a mummified monkeys paw and he want to get rid of it because theres a spell on it that lets you make 3 wishes and the purpus of the spell is to show man that you cant controll fate. so the soldier throws the paw in the fire and mr.white takes it out and wants it for himself. he keeps it and makes a wish for 200 pounds and the next day his son goes to work and one of the employees goes to their house and informs their parents that their son has passed away at work and for that they get 200 pounds. to as you see the point of the story is that you cant mess with your fate and everything the do changes the outcome.

The Tell tale heart is about this guy who took care of an old man. The old man had this creepy eye. The other guy wanted to kill him because of his eye. Every night he would spy on the old man for 7 nights. He would wait until he opened his eye to kill the old man. One night he went in the room and saw the old mans eye open and he flipped over the bed an killed him. he chopped him up and put him under the floor. the neighbors called the police because they heard a scream. the guy confessed and showed him where the body was. it was about a man that was taking care of an old man. But the old man head a creepy eye and the man thought that the old man was cursing him with the creepy eye. So he plans to kill the old man he waits at night so he can sleep opens the creepy eye to kill him. on the 7th day the old man opens the eye so the man flips the bed on the old man kills him. then he takes him into a tub and chops him up. Then hides him under the floor boards. Then the cops come and searched the house and did not find any thing. Then the man confesses that he killed the old man cause he felt guilty and heard a heart beating. I like the story because it has great details.

The Raven

The raven is about a man that lost his wife. One night the man siting down on his room and all the sudden he heard knocking on the chamber door but he thought that it was just his imagination. Then he look at the window and there was a bird on the window. Then when man was done talking the bird would always say nevermore. His wife name was Leonor. The mood of the story was sad because the bird keep remanding Leonor to the old man. The story was interesting and I liked.

The falling of the house of Usher

The story of The Falling of the house of Usher is about a man who is named Roderick Usher. One day Usher sent his friend a letter to come stay with him at his house for a few weeks. Usher's friend said yes..that he would stay with him for a couple of weeks. Usher had a sister that was sick. One day while Usher's friend was there she died. Usher became very scared because he thought that his sister was going to come back and take him with her. Usher became very paranoid. So he also died because he got scared and it was to much for him. I thought it was a very good story.

I have read "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe. This story is about a man who just lost his girlfriend or wife. As the story goes on, a raven lands on his window and he keeps saying, "Nevermore" like it was a parrot. This story was hard to understand but I got the gist of it. Overall it was sort of interesting story but hard to understand. Once I understood, I learned that the raven saying "Nevermore" means that he will always be sad or lonely.

This story is about this man who lost his wife and he was very sad that he lost his wife because he was really close to her, but then he just lost her unexpectedly. then he met this raven who he gets really close to and he thinks that the raven has something to do with his wife and when the raven said some thing he got frightened, and the bird kept on saying "never more," and the man thought that was very unusual.anyways the man wanted the raven to leave him because he felt bad and he knows that the raven is never going to bring his wife back. but the raven didn't leave him and he was surprised. So the raven stayed with him forever. and i like this book because it has allot of feeling and i put my self in the persons in the books feet and i felt very sad about it and yeah that's y i like it.

I read the poem called "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe. It's about a person who lost someone important in his life, and that was his wife. Her name was Lenore. And all of the sudden this Raven appears. It was taking place in his house. The Raven keeps reminding him of Lenore and would never get away and all he keeps saying "Nevermore". It was hard to understand the story because it was published a long time ago. The mood of the story was mostly really sad. I wouldn't recommend to other people since it was a long time ago that was written. Once I understood it, I get the mood of the story/poem.

The monkey paw is about a magic paw that gives you 3 wishes. But if you wish for something that you don't need something bad happen in return for what you wish for because when it was made the old man put a curse on the paw.
Because he thought you should not mess with faith.

Let's try this again

So last year we tried to start this blog about what we are reading and it did not work out as we had planned, so we are going to try again this year. The plan is to post to the blog at least twice a month about what we are reading in class as well as independently.

The first unit we are working with this year is short stories. Right now we are working with the theme Strange Going's On reading stories with elements of horror, suspense or irony. We will also be reading other short stories from various themes throughout the unit, as well as writing short stories of our own. Throughout the month of October we will be posting about the short stories we are reading as well as our independent books that we are beginning to read for our first project this year.

We hope that this year we are better about posting to our blog and that you enjoy reading about what we are reading. :)

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 5: Final Review

It was a really good book. I really enjoyed it. I would recommend to people who read the last 4 books.

The Summoning

The book I am reading right now is called the Summoning. This book is about a girl named Chloe Saunders. When she saw her first ghost everyone thought that she was crazy. So she was put in Lyle house. Which is a house for troubled teenagers. The book is pretty good so far.

I finished reading, "Diario de Greg, Esto es el Colmo!" It was the Spanish version of Diary Of A Wimpy Kid. Overall it was a very good story. Short, but sweet. I do recommend this book to fans.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 5

I am reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Ugly Truth. So far it's been really good. It focuses on a whole bunch of problems. But there was only one problem that was mainly focused on.

SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVE NOT READ DOG DAYS!!

It was focused on the relationship of Greg and Rowley and apparently they are not friends anymore and if Greg is going to grow up and be an adult, or mature and not make the Diaries ever again. So I have not read the whole book yet. I will post another blog when I am done reading the book

Howdy, I'm here to talk about Greek Mythology. It's been really interesting to read about God's. It's like how the world was created and it's really interesting. My favorite Greek Myth is Pandora's Box. If you haven't read it yet it's cool. It just explains how evil got into the world. 5 STARS!!!!

We have been talking about recently is Greek and Roman mythology. I think these topics are very interesting. What i like the most is that it explained how things came to this world. such as fire, and Seasons like summer and winter. These are very interesting topics but no one can really say if it happened or if it's true. Overall, I do like these myths and legends topic.

The Awakening

The book I recently read was called The Awekening. It is one of the best books I have everr read. The book was about a girl that could raise the dead. Her and 3 friends were being chased by a group of people. I would tell you more but you have to read the story to fin out what happens. Well that was the book I read.

The Cay

The book we read in class was The Cay. The book was about this 11 year old boy named Philip. Philip lived with his parents in Willemstad,Curaco. He had a friend and his name was Henrik. Henrik and Philip where very childish. People would keep talking about WWII. Philips mom wanted to come the United States. Philip's dad wanted to stay in his home town. Philip's mom decided to go to the U.S. Philip and his mom where on this big ship. On the way there Philip met a guy named Timothy. Timothy and Philip got stuck in the cay later on in the story. Those are some things about The Cay

Our class just got done reading El Cayo. I didn't like it because the end was rushed. it would have been better if Phillip wasn't blind.

I think that the book we read the cay was good. The book was about this kid that his name was philip. Philip lived in willemstad with his mom and dad and he had a friend named henrik. Philip's mom wanted to come to the un ites estates so when they were about to come the ship were they was torpedoed by the submarines. They both were alive but they got separate Philip got hit on the head really hard that he came blind. Then this men named Timonthy help him to survive then they were on the a piece of wood in the middle of the ocean. They were in the ocean for 5 days. Later they found this island named the cay they were in the cay for 4 months. This what happend on the book The cay.

Hi. I have recently read the book, " El Cayo" It is a book about these people getting stuck in a island. I think that it was a very interesting topic and that it was greatly explained in detail. I thought at first, it started off slow, but then it got really interesting.

I didn't like it because it was boring. I also didn't like the ending they rushed it. Also they didn't explain the ending that well. I thought the beginning was to boring because it talked about little details that it didn't need. The only two parts that was messed up that Timothy died and that Phillip was blind. /Marina said.

I am reading the book "El Cayo" by Theodore Taylor. The main characters are Phillip and Timothy. They both got stuck on an island because of an explosion on the boat along with Stew Cat. The setting was taken place in Curacao. The main problem is that they are trying to get out of the island. What happens on the end? Read the book and find out! :)
